Millions of Job in the MSME Sector
The literal
‘elephant in the room’ that desperately needs to be addressed, the Micro Small
Medium Enterprises sector is an upcoming sector in the industry, which will
only grow. This sector has been a dynamic part of Indian industry and
enterprise for much of our independent history, but it has never assumed more
significance than now. MSME sector can be called the ‘kindergarten’ of the
spirit of enterprise. It serves as an auxiliary branch to our vibrant large scale
industry. The government has also recognized its importance, as it contributes-
·
8% of the
country's GDP
·
45% of the
country’s manufactured output
·
36 % of the
country’s exports
The MSME sector
does this with a considerably low capital investment than the large scale
industry, all the while providing gainful employment to the rural and backward
sections of India’s workforce. The potential of the MSME sector as a social
equalizer in the country is huge and remains largely untapped.
In light of MSME’s rising, ineluctable importance to
India’s growth story, ‘What After College’ (WAC) 2015 is conducting its 7th
session called ‘The Elephant |
Millions of Job in the MSME Sector’ to throw this topic open to discussion,
and help students know what this sector can mean to them.
