The Basics To A Successful Liquid Rhinoplasty

Liquid rhinoplasty
In the past, rhinoplasty meant a complicated surgery, but the latest generation of dermal fillers have provided a very sophisticated non-surgical aesthetic alternative to the surgical nose job. Dermal fillers are commonly being used to correct the imperfections on the nose without going for a complicated, time-consuming, pain-inducing, and debilitating surgery. While the fillers cannot alter the size of the nose, straighten it, or make it smaller; in the hands of a skilled practitioner, the fillers can be used to upturn a hooked nose. This non-surgical option can also be used to correct nasal deformities, asymmetries, depression and regulations in the nose contours, whether they are because of injuries or genetics. According to the doctors, fillers are an entirely safe alternative to the tradition surgery because they are predictable and reversible. Though the procedure requires a comprehensive knowledge of the nasal anatomy, safety standards, knowledge of the recognised techniques and an artistic flare. Currently, dermal fillers can never replace traditional surgery where significant imperfections are concerned, but they can be used successfully to tweak the minor defects.

Like Botox and other non-surgical cosmetic procedures, nose fillers have become a success over the last two decades. The annual use of soft tissue fillers for rhinoplasty has increased by 253 percent since 2000. Around 2 million people had this procedure in the last year alone, compared with 650,000 back in 2010. The growth in the numbers can be attributed to the innovations and improvement in the quality of the fillers, and the grasp of the doctors on how to utilise them artistically. The real appeal of these fillers lies in the ease of their administration.

Where do I start?
The first step towards a successful rhinoplasty is a selection of a doctor. You should make a list of two to three physicians who successfully perform the procedure in your area. The next step is to check and confirm the credentials of those doctors. You should assure yourself that the doctors you have chosen are board certified, and have trained from renowned institutes in dermal filler courses. If you can, track down the patients to know their experience with the selected doctors. Check the website of their clinics to see the before and after images and make sure that these pictures are authentic. When you are satisfied with the credentials of the doctor, book a consultation appointment. At the consultation, the para-medical staff will take your medical history to identify if there are any limitations or potential problems to the treatment. You should then discuss your issue with the doctor after which he will deeply examine your nose and present you with the possible treatment options.

Once, the treatment is decided, the doctor will further discuss the treatment in detail with you.

How many sessions will I require?
It depends on your condition. Commonly, only one treatment session is needed for the filler administration followed by a review appointment. However, if a fair amount of augmentation is to be done, it will take several sessions to solve the complaint.

Does it require any downtime?
Technically, the liquid rhinoplasty does not require any downtime if performed by a skilled practitioner with an appropriate filler. Although, expect a little swelling and bruising to be there after the treatment, which is considered normal. This swelling and bruising will subside within a day or two with proper care and icing.

How long will the fillers last?
The fillers last anywhere between eight to twelve months after which, if the patients wish, can go for a repeat treatment.

Is the procedure reversible?
The fillers used for the nose job are made up of hyaluronic acid. HA is a natural substance and is present in our skin, it functions to keep your skin hydrated and plump. If a patient is not satisfied with the results of the nose job, then the doctor can inject an enzyme, hyaluronidase into the filler. This enzyme hydrolyses the filler into the water and reverses back the shape of the nose.
