The Acura MDX Meets and Exceeds Expectations

Across the world, Acura is a name people love and trust. The Acura MDX in particular has made a name for itself. In May of this year, The Detroit News reported that this mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle was more successful than German SUVs in terms of sales. 

This new model is doing extremely well in sales for several reasons. Some of the reasons the model has such impressive sales are the unique Acura features the car possesses. The other main reason the 2016 model is doing so well in sales is the price itself. The new model is significantly less expensive than its competitors. The base price of the MDX is approximately $5,400 less than that of BMW, Audi and Mercedes SUVs. 

In May of 2015, Acura stated, “The MDX, with 19,407 sales in the first four months of this year, isn’t just beating the Germans in calendar 2015… it is the best-selling three-row luxury SUV in history.”

Acura offers several versions of the model as well as different technology packages; including the popular and notable AcuraWatch system. 

This new MDX model is already getting a fair amount of praise and recognition. Safety is a top priority for Acura vehicles and this model proves it. In federal government crash testing, the 2016 model earned all five stars. Consumer Reports magazine has even recommended the 2016 Acura MDX to car buyers. The Detroit News also states that the latest model, “holds the top spot in fuel economy among non-hybrid, luxury, mid-size SUVs with 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on highways.”

The 2016 model differs from the 2015 model in several ways. Consumer Reports states that the MDX has an improved all-wheel drive system and nine-speed automatic transmission, which is a significant step up from the six-speed automatic transmission in the 2015 model. The Detroit News reports details on this change saying, “The nine-speed automatic has no shift lever. Instead, the driver pushes buttons in the center console to move the vehicle from park to neutral and drive and back into park.”

Along with having more impressive automatic transmission systems, the 2016 MDX has three rows of comfortable leather seats giving more legroom for passengers than competing brands. To many, the 2016 Acura MDX is the obvious choice.
