Technology and innovation employed by Dunlop Tyres

by Rik Fit Rikfit Autocentre

Dunlop possesses a world-wide Research & Development operation with incredible innovations. Innovations such as radial constructions, low profile tyre shapes, aramid casing materials, radial constructions, Multi-tread Technology, and Directional & Constant curve tread designs are developed directly through the passion towards motorsport. What is learnt on the track is applied on the road? Dunlop was the first in applying standards of race tyre performance to street tyres. This one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturer shows driving and racing-inspired innovations which not only brings out exclusive products but also ensures security, safety and pacified mind to the ever-growing customers.

This article briefs you on the technology and innovation of Dunlop

Noise Shield Technology

In this Noise Shield Technology, the interior sound is cut by up to 50%*. This is made possible by bonding a superior polyurethane foam layer to the tyre’s inner surface to decease the noise coming out of a vehicle without compromising its performance capabilities.

Benefits

The interior sound is reduced up to 50%

No compromises on performance competence

Specific Bead Beat System

In this system, the bond between rim and tyre is strengthened to provide an utmost control, accurate driving experience and excellent road feedback.

Benefits

Improved road feedback

More accuracy and steadiness

Hybrid Overlay Technology

In this technology, the jointless nylon bondage with zero per cent layer guarantees minimised deformation in circumferences at high speeds.

Benefits:

  • Increased high-speed stability

  • Incredible wear resistance

  • Soft wear

RunOnFlat Tyres

Dunlop RunOnFlat tyre technology allows drivers to continue their drive up to 50 miles even with a puncture to reach their destination. Nevertheless, these tyres should be fitted to vehicles that are set with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and the Tyres Birmingham should only be fixed on cars which are exclusively designed for run-flat tyres. A vehicle can travel up to 50 miles with a puncture and the speed 50 mph should not be exceeded.

Benefits:

Roadside tyre changes risks are reduced – even with a puncture you can now reach a garage

High-speed tyre blowout, a dangerous phenomenon is reduced

Dual Silica Compound

Low wear and tear and acceleration improvement are guaranteed by Dual silica compound.

Benefits:

  • Excellent braking performance and incredible acceleration

  • Advanced handling in all weathers

  • Good grip

  • Minimal wear and tear

Maximum Flange Shield (MFS)*

MFS is a rim flange protection system that runs around the Dunlop Tyres Birmingham circumference creating a defensive zone for the rim.

Benefits:

  • Costly alloy wheels are protected from Kerbing

  • Available in many sizes

Silica-Plus Compound

The Silica-Plus rubber compound is a derivative of motorsport tread that provides greater adherence to the roads.

Benefits:

Greater grip

  • Less wear and tear

  • Excellent handling in all weathers

  • Incredible braking performance and an outstanding acceleration

Multi Blade System

Multi-blade tyres improve challenges that extreme and varied winter driving conditions throw at you. Each blade differs in type that works excellently in particular conditions, making the tyre suits for all kinds of winter weather.

Benefits:

Diversified blades for varying winter road condition

Other than the above, Multi-Pitch Tread Design Technology, Dimensional Stable Polyester (DSP), Hydro-Paddle Technology, Traction Web Technology (TWT), Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology (DSST), Active Traction Sipe System (ATSS), Evaqua Grooves Angled EVA is the other technologies created by the tyre manufacturer Dunlop.
