Targeting Human Emotions on Social Media Greatly Increase Sales

According to the latest social media studies, it seems that the emotions triggered by these platforms are a great way for savvy marketers to increase sales on almost any products in their inventory. In fact, it's recommended that marketers target users the minute they share something on social media, since that is when they are willing to listen to what they have to say.
Social sharing is more than you think
There is something quite remarkable that researchers have discovered about users who share stuff on their social media accounts. The study suggests that when someone shares something on their timeline (for Facebook) or Tweets about something, their brain release more dopamine which stimulates a higher state of desire that’s generally associated with exercise, food and sex. The study was led by neuroscientists Doctor Peter Steidl who partnered up with RadiumOne (marketing firm) and reached to the conclusion that if adverts are served when users share something, then the success of making more sales will certainly improve.

RadiumOne's managing director, Kerry McCabe said in an interview about this that it's been a very long time now that marketers have focused on creativity as the best way of tapping into consumer emotion. He then went on to say that by being able to tap into the current emotional state of consumers or "right now" they can greatly increase sales and revenue. In fact, social sharing not only reveals the fact that users are interested, but it's when consumers are generally open and ready to be ‘exploited’ by social media for business experts.
Excellent results
In total, the study targeted 2 campaigns that delivered advertisements to social media users that shared certain links with their following or friends. During Tigerair's online campaign, it was discovered that thirty four percent of all sales across the campaign were recorded within the first twenty minutes after the link was shared and advertising served. In fact, this way of marketing is so effective, that in Tigerair's case they were able to get 6 out of ten bookings from clients that have never used their services before.
In a second campaign that focused on selling tickets of One Direction for their Australian tour, the number of tickets sold was 3x higher when the ads were served while people were talking about the band and their latest tour.
Explaining the high rate of success
According to Doctor Steidl, it seems that the reason why sales increased so much is because social sharing activates the brain's rewards system and provides users with the same amount of dopamine release that they get from pleasure seeking activities such as exercise, food and of course, sex.
Therefore, if you're a company that is struggling with making any sales, then this study is certainly going to come to your help and teach you a new way of doing business online. This is a game changer for marketers worldwide, since they now know exactly how and when to advertise their products and have the peace of mind that sales are going to go through the roof.
