In Indian Vedas, one can find the practice of worshiping the Sun for prosperity and well-being. Moreover, this practice is an un-detachable part of the daily routine in Hindu Culture. It is basically a means of thanking Sun for the energy it showering.

Surya Namaskar or  Sun Salutation, a traditional practice of yoga consist a sequence of twelve gracefully linked asanas. Daily practice of sun salutation massages, detoxifies, and stimulates almost every organ of your body. 

12 Steps of Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation

  • Prayer pose (Pranamasana)
  • Raised Arms pose (Hastottanasana)
  • Standing Forward Bend (Hastapadasana)
  • Equestrian pose (Ashwa Sanchalanasana)
  • Stick pose (Dandasan)
  • Saluting with eight points (Ashtanga Namaskar)
  • Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)
  • Mountain pose (parvatasana)
  • Equestrian pose (Ashwa Sanchalanasana)
  •  Standing Forward Bend (Hastapadasana)
