Summer Fruits for Kids

Every season gifts us some special fruits and so does summer! During summers fruits can be served as a healthy snack or converted into delicious recipes. This will not only keep your kids hydrated but also strengthen their immune systems.


 So below are the top summer fruits for your kids to enjoy this summer!

1.    Watermelon: This juicy delicious fruit is filled with vitamin A, B1, B6 and vitamin C which helps kids to stay energetic, fight infections and stay hydrated. Watermelon is also known as an anti-inflammatory fruit. The antioxidant named lycopene in watermelon helps to reduce inflammation in the body and protects it from free radicals.

 You can serve watermelon to kids in form of juice, mix it in a mint salad, or just cut in into small cubes and sprinkle some chaat masala over it.

 

2.  Mangoes: The King of fruits is everyone’s favorite and is rich in several vitamins. It is loaded with fiber which aids to reduce gastrointestinal disorders among children. The high amount of vitamin A helps to improve vision while glutamine acid helps to boost memory among children.

 Mangoes can be best served as mango milkshakes, homemade mango ice-cream, coconut/papaya and mango smoothie etc.

 

3.Muskmelon: This commonly eaten fruit in summers is considered an immunity-building fruit. It is rich in vitamin C & A, beta-carotene, calcium, folic acid, and potassium. All these vitamins and nutrients help in the overall growth and development of kids.

 Children can enjoy muskmelon in the form of juice, milkshakes or fresh fruit popsicles.


4.Jackfruit: It is loaded with various anti-oxidants which helps in improving children’s immunity. Vitamin A and vitamin C help in fighting several infections. Jackfruit also has a good amount of water content which will keep your kids hydrated throughout summer.


Jackfruit can be served in a mixed fruit salad to kids or eaten as it is. If your kids love jackfruit, you can also add it to any veg or non-veg curry.

 

5.Chikoo: It is an energy-boosting fruit that will keep kids energetic and active always. It has a good content of various minerals such as phosphorous, zinc, folate, magnesium copper, iron, etc., which helps in strengthening bones.

Chikoos are a rich source of fiber and rich in antioxidants which may help prevent several types of cancer. Chikoo milkshake is undoubtedly kids’ favorite! You can also add chikoo pulp to vanilla ice cream and your kids will definitely love it!

 

  6.    Ice apples: This fruit is similar to litchi but tastes like tender coconut. Ice apples provide a perfect combination of natural sugars and minerals to kids during summer. Its high-water contents help to keep kids hydrated in summer.

 The best way to eat ice apples is to enjoy them as they are!

 

7.    Banana: They are a storehouse of various vitamins like vitamin B6, B12, A and calcium, potassium, zinc and folate. Consuming bananas regularly eases digestion and helps in healthy weight gain.


 You can serve banana in form of a smoothie, bake a gluten-free banana walnut cake or make banana balls.

 

8.    Love/Water apples: This Asian fruit has 90% water content which makes it the best source of hydration for kids. Adding love apples to your regular diet improves metabolism, boosts immunity and prevents constipation.

 Kids can enjoy water apples in form of juice or you can even make jam out of it.
