Submitting websites in web directory lists.

Submitting your website url to online directories is basically adding your website into lists of directories or search engines to be found when the key words you have chosen or that come close to the content of your website are searched. This can make your chances of receiving more traffic to your website and being found easier but will not always bring your rankings up. And rankings don't usually mean a lot because they change often and usually daily but can give an idea of popularity of the site. 

Web directories can be from anywhere and cover any location, they can target specific types of traffic or all traffic, some will cost you to submit an url while others are free, some require a reciprocal link or back link others don't or offer it. Also there are automatic link acceptance and hand accepted submissions which can take a few minutes to several days or months to make it on the directory link. You can even pay someone to submit your site for you to directories fitting your needs.

For those who do url submission they really put a lot of work into it especially those who are legitimate and know what is going. knowing where to submit a link, in what categories for best results, and knowing which directories are right for each client they are submitting for. These groups or people who do this have actually researched the lists and lists of directories and made spreadsheets telling specific information such as fees, locations, categories, requirements for submissions, ratings, and much more. This is something I am experiencing and learning right now and it is time consuming but well worth the trouble and I will have lots to share when I am done. 

I feel that this is a great way to get your business and website out there to be seen and found on the internet. But pay attention to the directories because some could actually bring down your ratings or traffic while others can raise your traffic and ratings. I am sure that everyone out there has different opinions on this subject and I accept that and don't look down on anyone. I welcome feedback on this topic for this will be an ongoing project for me, and I am hoping to help others out as well by my research and ventures with this project.
