Steps to Follow When Working On Audio/Sound Editing Project
An audio production is
not really about recording, uploading and releasing the audio file on some
platform. Also, audios are attached to videos after the shoot of has been
completed, and not to mention, this is a critical task, which needs to be done
carefully. Technically, it is called audio editing, and it is an extensive and
intense process a video and/or audio release project goes through.
Audio editing is done
during the post production leg. Post production is the last stage of audio,
video or photography project. It is, in fact, the longest and most critical
part of a production, which may take weeks’ (and even, month’s) time. Different
machines, professionals, and technologies are employed to record the audio,
dialogue, sound, and music. Since many professionals and technologies are
employed, it becomes crucial for the producers to check the flow and quality in
their project, before scheduling its release date.
If you are working on a
movie or audio project, you will obviously need to hire a post
production company to edit and refine it. If we center on audio
editing, these are steps that your project will go through –
Creating a balance
between the video and the audio – In this step, the editors
ensure that the visuals and sounds are running perfectly and conjointly. Both
need to be aligned well, so that there no gaps between the sound and the acts.
Sometimes more than one device is used for recording; so, this can be a complex
affair for the editors to equalize the quality of sound throughout the run.
Adding the background
score – In this leg, to add a dramatic appeal to the film, editors add background
score to it. Background music is an essential element. However, creating music
is definitely not the job of an audio editor. But, it is their job to make use
of the score in a way that it sets the mood of a scene.
Taking care of voice
modulations and score – Actors add life to their roles by
bringing expressions on their face and modulation in their voice. It,
therefore, becomes the function of post production professionals to make edits
in a way that the actors’ enactments are conveyed correctly in the final copy
of the project. This exercise, to be precise, is termed as ‘the leveling’, and
in this step, the sound and voice delivery of actors is taken care of.
Filling in the effects –
After adding the audio track, removing the noise, ensuring the clarity in the
recording, and adjoining the background score, it is the time to add effects.
In this leg, the editors recheck the quality of the work to ensure flawlessness
in the project.
