Steps To Build A Transmission Line Tower
by Barkha Pahuja SEO/Writer
Building a transmission line tower is never an easy task; it requires
major steps and lots of skilled workers. The task is challenging in the
sense it should follow strict safety, project quality, and environmental
protection practices. Listed below are the steps required to build a
transmission line tower
• Transporting Raw Materials
Transporting raw material is usually the first thing to do when it comes
to construction of any kind. Different parts of the tower building
materials must be carefully distributed so that the workers can finish
the task in an organized way. The construction materials are transported
directly to the site where the tower is to be built. There are several
transmission line tower suppliers who supply raw materials to the sites
directly at reasonable rates.
• Building Foundation
The foundation of the tower begins with the clearing of the project area.
The topsoil is carefully put aside which will be reused later, pumping
may be required to remove the water and dry the site during excavation.
The type of excavation varies with the variety of soil where the tower is
to be built. Moreover, the anchor of the tower depends on the type of
tower that is to be built. Many transmission line tower manufacturers
offer the quality product at market competitive rates.
• Assembling Of The Tower
This step requires the worker to use heavy machinery and necessary
precaution to be taken by keeping in mind the environment in which the
tower is to be built. Then the line workers join force and start
assembling the tower on the ground that requires a lot of experience and
skill.
• Raising The Tower
After the assembly of the tower on the ground, the next step is raising
the tower with the help of a telescopic crane. It requires a skilled and
experienced worker to make sure that the tower is raised carefully and
there is no damage or accidents.
• Unreeling And Installing The Conductors
Once the tower is raised then the conductor is unreeled and strung
section by section from tower to tower. The tower also has a cable drum
with a reel and tensioner at one end and a puller. There is also a
take-up reel at the other end. To ensure safety workers make sure the
voltage levels are within acceptable limits. The other thing the workers
make sure of is the distance between the ground and the level.
• Installation Of Counterpoise Wires
These wires are installed to the ground which helps to protect the line
from lightning. The wires use an underground conductor to ensure the
electrical connection between some or all of the line’s towers and the
ground.
• Restoring The Site
This is the final step and includes tasks such as removing all the debris
and waste, leveling the ground, reconstructing the infrastructure damaged
during the work and many other such works. The site must be restored and
make sure that the landowners are satisfied with their restoration job.
In the event of any damage, the company must take responsibility and compensate
the landowners for the damages. There is several reputed transmission
line tower exporter and transmission line tower fabricator who supply
bulk quantity of raw materials to customers all across the country.
