Start Dates of ‘Atlanta’ Season 3 & 4 Get Moved to Early 2021
The production of “Atlanta” has been delayed, and though the resumption in production of Season 3 has been slated around early 2021, the premiere release date is up in the air.
Fans of Atlanta have long waited for Season 3. Still, they have to wait a little longer because the turbulence caused by the coronavirus pandemic has stalled the operations of production with no hope of kick-starting the work before early 2021. Fans have to wait until next year before they can hear anything specific regarding the premiere date though the production team is hopeful season 3 will reach the screens next year. Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, John Landgraf, has confirmed the news.

However, he made sure that he is giving fans something to cheer about as he said in his statement that scripting work for season 3 and season 4 had been completed entirely. The production of season 3 & 4 will happen back to back, congruent to the original plan made for the two seasons back in 2019.
Landgraf lauded the efforts of Donald Grover and his fearless writing team for the scripting efforts in the middle of a raging pandemic.
Atlanta follows the story of Grover’s character Earn, who strives to launch his cousin’s career, who has a passion for rapping while simultaneously working to better the lives of his daughter and himself. Glover, the show’s face, also wore the director’s hat in the preceding two seasons apart from being an executive producer, writer, and lead actor. The supporting cast includes Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz.
The pandemic has mercilessly stalled the production but has not broken the spirits of the production team, who will now have to encourage the cast to work on a very long span to finish the two seasons in one go; Landgraf conveyed these details in his statement.
It is worth pointing out again that it has been a long wait for season 3, which had been called immediately after the release of season 2. Donald Glover’s hectic schedule had to postpone the show for a long time before the virus took over and stalled the productions even further. Meanwhile, Donald Glover released his fourth studio album in March of this year. He played the lead role of Simba in an internationally renowned mega-hit live-action remake of “The Lion King.”
“Atalanta” has been nothing short of a tv tentpole for FX networks since the debut of the show garnering strong viewership as well as critical approvals. For his outstanding work on the show, Donald Glover was awarded an Emmy award for the Best Actor in a Comedy series in the year 2017.
Season 2 of the show was a subject of strong critical admiration; some critics even called it the second-best show, if not the best show of the year 2018, only behind “The Americans” for some. Indie Wire, Variety, and Collider cheered the season for its margins defying comedy.
