by Zara Smith online digital marketar

Sports injuries are either minor which heal on their own or with little care at home, but the major ones which need surgeries must be given immediate medical attention at a sports injury treatment center. Continue reading to know more.

As the name suggests, sports injuries are injuries which occur when engaging in any physical activities such as sports or exercises. People who tend to overtrain, do not follow the proper form or technique, lack in conditioning or do not warm up their body well before exercise or a sport often succumb to such injuries. These injuries are often minor such as bruises, sprains or strains that do not need much medical attention and can be treated at home, but sometimes there are chances of severe injuries such as tears and even broken bones. Soft tissues that are mostly at the risk are ligaments, fascia, bursae and muscles. There is another potential sports injury namely Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI).

While the major sports injuries are the least likely to take place, the minor ones are difficult to ignore. A second of negligence can lead to something serious. As discussed earlier, minor injuries do not always require immediate medical attention and can be treated at home with the PRICE(Protection, Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation), pain killers, home remedies etc. But, there are injuries that need immediate medical attention and have to be treated at a sports injury treatment center.

Pulled Muscle
A pulled muscle occurs when there is a sudden strain on a particular muscle due to overstretch or tear. You may experience one while stretching in an improper form or technique. The symptoms of a muscle pull include swelling, a sudden cramp, pain, weakness and the inability to use or move that particular muscle. Areas that are mostly affected by a muscle pull are the calves, quadriceps, lower back, groin, hamstrings and shoulders. Muscle pulls are mostly minor and heals on its own within a few minutes, but some are severe and need to be examined by a doctor.

Shin Splints
Shin splints are mostly experienced by runners or those who have just started to exercise. They are a painful stabbing, aching and throbbing pain in the lower leg that can sometimes be unbearable to the extent of immobility. This occurs when the tendons and the muscles that surround the tibia (larger of the two leg bones) get inflammed. Shin splints are mostly treated at home with some rest, stretching, bandaging and applying ice pack, but, if it persists for more than two days, you should definitely get it examined by your doctor. Another reason for shin splints can be flat feet during exercise or sports. Hence, using orthotics and proper athletic shoes will keep the chances at bay.

Torn ACL

The ACL(Anterior Cruciate Ligament) helps in holding the knee joint together and maintaining balance. A torn ACL is an injury which typically occurs during sports when you jump land in a wrong form, changing direction or stopping abruptly. When you experience a torn ACL, you will possibly hear a cracking pop and then feel your knee not functioning at all followed by swelling, pain and a loss of range of motion. A torn ACL has to be reconstructed surgically in a hospital or an advanced pain management center. After the surgery, it has to be given significant rehabilitation to regain the strength and the functions of the knee joint.

Tennis Elbow

As the name suggests, a tennis elbow is an injury that typically is related to racket sports. Also, people engaged in painting and plumbing are also at the risk of a tennis elbow injury. Caused by small tears, this injury involves inflammation of the tendons on the outside of the elbow. A tennis elbow gives birth to severe pain in the elbow further weakening the grip. Initially, it can be treated with adequate rest and some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. But, if the pain persists, you should go for a physical therapy as directed by your doctor. In some cases, surgery might be recommended if other treatments have failed.

You will find a plethora of pain management services Delhi to get you through your sports injury and initiate a fast recovery.
