Small Business Owner: Decision is Now

I see a lot of businessmen who do a lot of work before they start their business venture. Unfortunately, that day never comes. They always find an excuse to not to start that venture. This is certainly not the way to move forward in your career. Top businessmen always follow their ideas by spending just a 2-3 days in brainstorming. Usually, most successful business empires are born out of less time spent on thinking. An idea is quick, a bolt and pops out of the crying need. A series of successful ideas builds an empire and a brand. Thinking about every single obstacle only leads to depression and a life in a cubicle.

I will share a story of one of my colleagues who was working in a finance company for 40 hrs each week and he had an interesting package. He decided to start an e-Commerce business. He came to me for some ideas. I offered him a few. He was lukewarm happy about them. Then he took the necessary licenses, did the paperwork and created an LLC with an exciting logo. Afterwards, he hired an article writer to write articles for his website whose domain name he was still searching. He was not even sure whether the name of his website should be on a popular keyword or something else. He was not sure about the domain sellers, platforms and many such things. Most importantly, he was not sure if he should or should not buy a domain. Since, in his heart he was not at all sure if it would work. Rather he was confident that it would not.
But as he had already started a company, he asked the article writer to produce a set of articles every week. She did her job. Then after a period of six months he started a “blog” to check if he could get traffic.

Then he started posting the 1-2 articles in a month on that blog. After 3 months, he told his writer that he didn’t need her services as there was already a huge backlog. Then in the 9th month his business was shut down as he found out that there was no traffic to his blog. The big news is that he never promoted his blog! He never went ahead of 1-2 blog articles per month. In a nutshell, he gave up before attempting. His biggest mistake was not buying a domain to set up a website. If he would have done that, then in 6 months time with simple social media marketing his website would have survived. Then he would have just needed to continue with the promotion.

Now, he still works for the same financial company and gets frustrated about not been able to think of a successful business idea. There is no magic pill. An idea is an idea and to make it successful you have to make the move. Fast decision makers grab the top posts anywhere in the world. Those that keep procrastinating never make it to the top.
