Signs When You Need To See A Cardiologist As Soon As Possible

by John Twin Manager
The modern lifestyle and feeding habits, such as consumption of junk foods regularly and a sedentary living pattern, are bad for your health, especially your heart health. No wonder heart diseases caused the most number of disease-related deaths in America. Your family or primary physician may refer you to a cardiologist because of an increased risk of a heart disease or if the physician witnesses certain symptoms that may be associated with cardiovascular disease.

Proper and routine clinical checkups are important for you to stay fit and healthy. More than 18 million Americans are today affected by cardiovascular and heart diseases. You can consult a cardiac specialist (a physician that specializes in heart and cardiovascular health and diseases related to it) yourself if you witness any of the signs mentioned below. Early and routine checkup may help prevent a disease or health condition that, if left unchecked, may aggravate and cause chronic conditions later on.

1. When referred by the Primary Physician

Alarmed by certain symptoms or with the presence of cardiovascular diseases occurring in immediate family members, your primary physician may refer you to a cardiologist. This may be a one-time visit or a longer procedure. You should visit the cardiologist immediately if your primary or family physician refers you. He may also provide you with the names of certain well-qualified cardiologists in your vicinity in this regard.

2. Presence of Certain Symptoms

Certain symptoms such as chest discomfort or pain, arrhythmia, palpitations, shortness of breath or a major cardiac event (including heart attack) should be immediately attended to buy a cardiologist.

3. High Blood Pressure

Constant and regular monitoring of blood pressure should be done after the age of 20 years. If you witness abnormal or unhealthy elevations in your blood pressure levels constantly or have a higher blood pressure for a long time, it is important that you must see a cardiologist immediately. Early diagnosis and adaptive changes in dietary and lifestyle habits may help you escape medications and manage blood pressure easily. Even if you have normal blood pressure you should monitor it regularly, to maintain it and to stay on the safer side.

4. CHD or Congenital Heart Disease

A person with congenital heart disease needs proper cardiac care throughout their lifetime and it is not a one-time affair. Adults who suffered from CHD, when they were kids, have a much better quality of life if proper cardiac is provided.

5. Higher Blood Cholesterol

High blood cholesterol level may also indicate a heart disease. It is also important to know and control the type and amount of cholesterol you consume.

Other than these conditions and signs, swollen gums and preeclampsia (a pregnancy-related health condition found in the women) may also indicate a heart problem. A healthy and active lifestyle, consumption of healthy diets, regularly checking cholesterol intake, and other measures can be employed by self to avoid heart and cardiovascular diseases. You should never neglect the sign that may relate to a cardiovascular medical condition and should seek the advice of a heart specialist and right cardiologist immediately if you witness any such symptom and sign.
