Signs Your HVAC System Needs Repair

by Kevin Smith Author

Over time, your HVAC system is going to need repairs. However, when you take proper care of the unit, there's less of a chance you're going to need to as often. But, there are a few signs that your HVAC system might be trying to tell you it needs HVAC repair in Marietta. Here are a few common signs that you should reach out to an HVAC technician promptly.

Parts Are Worn Down

Over time, your HVAC system can eventually wear out. Parts can start breaking down, such as the motors in the HVAC unit, which can cause the entire system not to work as it should. However, before you try to DIY any repairs, you should have a qualified HVAC technician review your system and figure out the problem. The last thing you want to do is cause further problems to your heating and cooling system.

Filter Is Clogged

If you're having to frequently turn the heat up or air conditioning down, the likely culprit is a clogged filter in your system. Clogged filters cause a lack of air flow and are the leading cause of inefficient HVAC systems. This is why it's important to regularly check the filter every month and replace it every 90 days. Fortunately, your HVAC technician will be able to show you how to install the new filter and how to clean it out every month.

System Is Leaking

A leaking HVAC system is harder to diagnose, but it can be even more challenging to repair. However, this is something you should inform your HVAC technician about, so they can properly diagnose your system. First, you should check where the leak is coming from, inspect the filter for ice, since leaking refrigerant can cause your filter to freeze moisture, and see if the leaking pipe is corroded or dry-rotted. By identifying these symptoms, you can better help your HVAC technician.

Electrical Issues

Even if you have an oil or gas-powered HVAC system, it still has some electrical parts. Unfortunately, if these electronic components don't work properly, they can prevent your entire system from being functional. However, one of the biggest problems with electrical systems is the ignitions system. When this isn't functional, your entire system won't work. But, if you heat a few clicks before ignition, there's a problem with the electrical igniter, which will require HVAC repair in Marietta
