Signs of Foundational Cracking and What To Do

With the passage of time, the structure of your house experiences foundation movement because of variety of conditions. During this time, the foundation shifts and creates gaps that may become a grave concern. If you are able to catch the signs of foundation problems right from its early stage, you are able to save yourself from the disasters that may incur due to the shift in the foundation of your house.

Here are some signs of foundational cracking to help you identify the issue beforehand.

1.   Doors That Jam Or Don’t Close and Open Properly

Every now and then you notice that the doors are sticking and you have to drag them to open or shut. This is an indication for you that there is some kind of foundation problem. At times due to the humidity, doors stick to the floor and do not close or open properly. 2.   Cabinets and Counters Unravelling From the Wall

You must have come across a time when you notice the kitchen countertops or cabinets appear to be slanting and tilting from the wall. Before you know it, you will have all the cabinets come tumbling down with everything in it.

You may think your eyes are playing a trick on you when you notice the cabinets a bit tilted. However, you need to be wary and take it as an indication of foundation damage.

3.   Cracks or Fractures Found In Wall or Floor

Other signs of foundation troubles can be a broken chimney, floor cracks, or wall fissures. 4.   Foundation Sinking Or Settling

In case if you notice the house structure appear to sink or settle in, this is something you need to have it checked. This is another sign that your house is having a foundation dilemma. With the passage of time, you start to notice one side of the house is lower with respect to the other side. You might even observe the center of the property is sinking in.

In conclusion, when you notice such signs of foundational cracking, be sure not to ignore them. What you need to do is call a commercial home inspections company you know you can put your faith and trust in to do a job well done. Once the home inspector gives you a detailed report on the condition of your property, you can take the necessary corrective steps.
