How to Clean Your Rims and Tires

by Susan Carrie Susancarrie

Your car would look perfect if you only spend a couple of hours on washing the exterior and glossing the paint to get a sheer shine while clearing the debris stuck on wheels. Never underestimate the beauty shining rim and clean tires add to the aesthetics of your car. Cleaning wheels do not require hours of extensive labor, it can be done in minimal time and effort.

When you apply breaks, its friction results in sticky substance called brake dust which is caustic and can damage the rims permanently if not cleaned on time. This is why getting the wheels properly cleaned is essential. If you don’t know the technique to clean the wheels then you can contact Distinguished Detail Shop to get your wheels serviced.

Steps to clean the rim and the tires

if you attempting to clean the rims and the tires all by yourself then here is a step by step guide that will help you.

Step 1: soak the rims

Remove the rims and soak them in soapy water so that the grime stuck to it can soften up. Let the rims soak for a while and check if the grime is coming out, if it is still hard then leave it for a bit longer.

Step 2: rinse the tires

Meanwhile the rims are soaking, you need to rinse the tires to remove the dirt. Remove the loose dirt to prepare the tire for scrubbing. Do not waste water while trying to remove the stiff debris from the tires because nothing but a good scrubbing will help in removing it.

Step 3: Scrub the tire and the rim

Keep in mind that cleaners you use to clean your house will not work on wheels, you will be needing special car wheel cleaners that does not harm the surface of the tire and the rim. You can find non-acidic cleaner from Distinguished Detail Shop that can protect the wheels from corrosion.  Use a soft sponge to scrub the rim because you wouldn’t want to scratch it. Rinse the rim to see if it is clean and there is no sign of grim. Tires are made of rubber and it requires tough brushing to be properly clean.  Scrub the tire well enough to remove every particle of dirt and rinse to see if it is clean.

Step 4: Use protective spray

Once your rims are clean from dirt, use protective spray on it to retain its shine and to provide protection against environmental impacts.

Note: the best practice in auto detailing is that the wheels are cleaned in the very start, so that when you clean the dirt from the tires, it does not stick onto the car paint.

If you think that you cannot manage all this scrubbing and you are always running short on time then call Distinguished Detail Shop to get car serviced. They will use premium cleaning products that will not harm the tires and in the end spray protective solution on the wheels for a sheer shine and protection.
