In Eastern Cambodia – Siem Reap is mainly famous for the beautiful Angkor Wat Temples. A complete Siem Reap tour will help the tourists to know everything about the culture and history of these stunning temple complexes here. Pack your backpack to explore the cheap “pub street” and native eateries here. Basically, this place has stored a lot for different types of tourists who come across the world every year.

Angkor Wat:

The World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO and one among the Seven Wonders of the World – Angkor Wat is the main attraction of the Siem Reap tours. This is considered as one of the biggest religious temple complexes across the world. It is also considered as the world’s oldest temple. The tour covering the main temple can be completed in a day. But, if you want to take a tour covering all the outliner remote temples, you must book 3-5 days more. Some of the most wonderful temples include Ta Phrom, Bayan Temple, The Baphuon, Banteay Srei and Pre Rip etc.

Angkor Archeological Park:

This is a must visit tourist place in Cambodia. You can title it as the paradise for the history and architecture lovers. This is also known as an important architectural hub in the whole of South East Asia. Here, in this park, you will get the chance to explore the most amazing architectural remnants of some of the wonderful temples and architectures in Cambodia. These structures were built during the 9th-15th centuries. Except for Angkor Wat, you have a lot to see and explore here. The Globetrotter Guru has written in her travel blog that the temples here in this park including Bayan Temple were constructed following the traditional Khmer styled architecture. Millions of foreign tourists come here all through the year to experience the amazing ancient architecture here.

This park is spread around 400 sq. km. when it was declared as the World Heritage Site in 1992 by UNESCO. Temples are open from 5 am – 6 pm. Price depends according to your preferred tour package.

Srah Srang:

This is another famous tourist spot in Sien Reap, Cambodia. Srang (the Royal Bath) was used as the reservoir to constantly store water. It is an immense lake of 700x300 m and was constructed by King Jayavaram II during the 12th century. The main attraction was that the reservoir always contained water and it also has a canopy of fresh greenery always enclose the lake. From the courtyard of this lake, you will get the entire view of the Angkor archeological park. Sandstone and laterite both were used to construct this lake initially. Two lions are flanking at the entrance of the platform that is leading into the lake. Near the lake, you will find beautiful sculptures of serpents and garuda and thus you need to include this place in the itinerary of the Siem Reap Tours.

If you want to get the best view, you must plan to visit here during the sunrise and sunset times.

As this is considered as a part of Angkor archeological park, entry is free here.

Banteay Kdei:

The phrase actually stands for “Citadel of Chambers”. It is a Buddhist temple located in Angkor, Cambodia. During the 13th century AD, the temple was built in the reign of Jayavarman VII. The architectural style resembles the pride of glory during the ancient times. The intriguing structures of Preah Khan and Ta Prohm have influenced the architecture though it is quite smaller and less complex comparatively. The temple is encompassed by two walls and they were made of laterite stones. Until 1960, monks used to live there always. Here, in this complex you will get a vast showcase of several architectural sculptures and nuances dated back to the ancient Buddhist era – says the Globetrotter Guru in her popular travel blog.
