Scotch and Cocktails
We often get into conversations
over a nice glass of drink. But have you ever got into a conversation rather a
debate over alcohols and cocktails? It is fun to share all that you know about
the agenda, or get to soak in what is completely alien to you.
A lot of people make faces the
moment they here of scotch; not
because they don’t blend with anything else but some think it is is too good to
be mixed with anything to spoil it completely. However I don’t believe so.
Let’s try some mixes and get an outcome that all may like.
Rob Roy :

Basically the famous scotch cocktail drinks are Manhattan based and a very tasty drink to rely
on. And the best part is there is nothing to goof up in it. Get in 2 ounces
blended Scotch whisky, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, 1 ounce sweet vermouth and lemon
or orange twist for garnish. Mix all ingredients in a mixing glass and fill
with ice. Stir well for about 20 seconds then strain into a chilled cocktail
glass. Garnish it with a lemon or an orange twist.
Blood and Sand :

Probably named after a 1922
silent movie, starring Rudolph Valentino as a bullfighter who embarks on a
destructive affair with a wealthy widow. The Blood and Sand is an unlikely
combination of ingredients. All you may require is one 1 ounce blended Scotch, ¾
ounce sweet vermouth, ¾ ounce cherry Heering and 1 ounce fresh-squeezed orange
juice. Pour all of the mentioned ingredients in a large jar and give it a nice
shake till the jar gets a frost from the outside. Strain the ingredients in a
glass and garnish it with a cherry.
Penicillin :

Don’t go by the name and consider
it an age old cocktail. It was created by a bar tender in New York in the year
2005. To recreate the same magic as the bartender all you need is 2 ounces
blended Scotch whiskey, ¾ ounce hone syrup. ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice, 3 slices
fresh ginger and ¼ ounce Islay single malt Scotch. With the help of a wooden
muddler or mixing spoon crush the ginger in the bottom of a cocktail shaker
until it is well mashed. Add the blended scotch, lemon juice and honey syrup
and fill shaker with ice. Shake until
well chilled about 20 seconds.
Strain into an ice filled rocks
glass and pour Islay Scotch over the back of a bar spoon so that it floats a
top the drink.
Appletini :
Also known as green apple martini is a mixture
of 5 tbsp. vodka, 5 tbsp. sour-apple schnapps, 5 tbsp. lemonade, 5 tbsp.
lemon-lime soda and a cinnamon and sugar for rimming glass. Give all the
ingredients a good mix, strain it and serve it in glass.
