What’s first?

If you are preparing an article for a specific publication, magazine or collection, first of all, you should know the requirements introduced in the articles: volume, formatting, range of topics.

Then you can reflect on the theme of the article. Review the material which you already have and think about how it can be used for writing. Title of the article should reflect its content and be in tune with the theme of the research. The more narrow and specialized subject of the article is presented, the better. Do not try to grasp the immensity. The topic should be relevant to science and interesting for you.

After determining the theme, draw an outline of a rough plan of the article, think about how and in what sequence you should present the material.

Now you must decide what materials are not enough for full and well-reasoned conclusions. Go to the laboratory, archives, and libraries, to collect the missing information and conduct additional experiments. After gathering the necessary material, you can group it, analyze and summarize.

The structure of a research paper

The scientific article typically consists of several parts: article title (title), abstract, keywords, introduction, main part, conclusion (conclusions, analysis, synthesis and critique), and a list of references.

Title

Article Title must perform two tasks: to reflect the content of the article and attract the readers’ interests. As the text of the article, the title is written in scientific style and reflects its content the most correctly.

Annotation

Abstract is a concise description of the article. The presence of the annotation is not necessary but desirable. Information about the author / authors of the article, scientific problem, objectives and main findings of the author are reflected in summary form.

Keywords

Keywords can reflect the basic positions, results and terms.

Introduction

The introduction should familiarize readers with the subject of the research, present the research methods (equipment, measurement parameters, and so on) and formulate a hypothesis.

Main part

The main part is the most extensive and important section of a scientific article. It reflects the research process, states the reasoning, which led to the conclusion in successive steps.

Conclusion

The main achievements of the author are written in thesis form. All conclusions should be objective without the author's interpretation. This allows readers to assess the quality of received data and make their own conclusions.
