Rajasthan is a colorful state that is populated with the cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. While Jaipur represents the growth development and a royal ambiance, the Jodhpur is the perfect example of a desert city. Udaipur is a welcoming contrast on the terrain of this desert state as the city houses many lakes and is also known as the Venice of India because of the same reason. The same diversity is also seen in the colors and dresses of Rajasthan

Let’s have a look at the regional attire of Rajasthan women that enhances their beauty:

Ghaghara

The complete attire of Rajasthan women include a long skirt generally made of cotton. The skirt is very long and wide. The length reaches to ankle and even covers the toes. Ghaghara is commonly unfolded at the bottom just like skirt. These long skirts are available in many colors but the commonly worn colors are Red, Yellow, Green and Pink. However, for occasions like marriage ceremonies and other auspicious occasions the women prefer designer patterns with motifs and even embroidery at the bottom. The waist is narrow but widens as it reaches the bottom. The upper side of Ghaghara is folded and stitched to make a tunnel like figure running through the width. A thin but strong ribbon is inserted inside it and tied when the attire is worn. It ensures that Ghaghara is well secured. This ribbon is called Nada.

Odhni

Odhni is used to cover the head as well as the front part. One side is tucked inside the Ghaghara while the other side reaches the head covering the forehead. There While the Odhni for daily use is plain and made of cotton the odhnis worn on various festive occasions are embroidered and glimmering. The color of the odhni contrasts the color of Ghaghara rather than matching it. For example on a green colored Ghaghara a yellow Odhni is worn. The border of the odhni is usually embellished with silver lining.

Accessories

Rajasthan women are also found of lots of accessories to accentuate their presence. Some of the commonly found accessories include:
Bangles: The women of Rajasthan are fond of colorful bangles made of a glass like material called Lac. Any social occasion is incomplete without the main ladies wearing these bangles in the hands. Generally the bangles start from the wrist ad reaches very near to the elbow. These bangles are of various colors. Generally women like to wear the bangles that are in sharp contrast to each other like green, yellow, red etc. Red is regarded as the auspicious colors and wearing latest 2 red bangles is almost mandatory in proper attire.

The accessories also depend upon the caste and tribe. The tribal women like to wear metal and for them the weight is more important than the design, It is not rare to find the anklets weighing as much as 2 KG in each foot.

The women of Rajasthan are also interested in wearing earrings and they generally like it big and designer. While the silver earrings are worn in daily life, it is not rare to see the women wearing golden earrings with beautiful jewelry art like Meenakari, on festive occasions.
However when it comes to rings the Rajasthan women do not seem to be very much specific. They might or not might wear it. The designs also vary.
They are generally particular about Bichchua that is worn in the toes. It is just like a ring and is considered an auspicious accessory for the married women.
