Quebec Introduces Values Test for Immigration Candidates

The Quebec
Values Test – which was introduced by the Quebec
immigration authority on 30th
October 2019 – is effective as of 1st January 2019. Under this new
requirement, applicants and accompanying family members above 18 years of age
under the Regular Skilled Worker Program, Quebec Experience Program,
Entrepreneur Program, Self-employed Program, and Quebec Immigrant Investor
Program must secure a Quebec Values Certificate – either by attending an
information session organized by the Quebec government, or by passing an online
test.
The process
for obtaining this certificate varies under Quebec Immigration, depending on the applicant’s status in
Quebec. The test will examine an immigration aspirant’s knowledge regarding
Quebec as a francophone, secular and democratic society, responsibilities and
rights of residents, and gender equality. The examination duration will be 90
minutes. In order to pass, candidates must score at least 75%.
