Protection steps for networks that deliver water to care plants
by Kazi asif Mahmud Professional SEO ExpertThe sewage and effluent transfer systems that are used to
pipe wastewater to the effluent treatment plants are susceptible to various
corrosive forces. In this article, I mention measures that can be adopted to
protect wastewater transfer systems from the harmful effects of these corrosive
forces.
There are two ways through which the wastewater from
industries is transported to the effluent treatment plant. One involves the use
of tanker trucks to carry over and unload the wastewater into the treatment
plant. The other method involves the use of underground pipe networks (sewers)
similar to the municipal sewerage network to pipe wastewater from the industry to
the effluent treatment plant. But to be able to pipe effluent from the
industries to the plant, they have to be set up near the effluent treatment
plant. Hence, such an industrial wastewater sewer system is more commonly seen
in industrial estates.
The design of an industrial sewer collection system that is
used to pipe wastewater to the plant is comparable in most respects to a normal
municipal sewerage network. While designing an effluent sewer to pipe
wastewater from industries to the treatment plant, much thought has to be given
to protecting the pipes from corrosion or at-least limiting the effects of
corrosion. This factor is given more importance while designing effluent sewers
than while designing a municipal wastewater sewerage. The primary method of
limiting the effects of corrosion is to pre-treat the industrial effluent
before its discharge into the sewer. But it is difficult to protect the sewer
pipes in case a highly alkaline or acidic industrial effluent is intentionally
or accidentally discharged into the pipes.
Some measures you can adopt to limit the corrosion in pipes
are: making use of pipe linings or coatings that resist corrosion, adopting
methods that control the generation of sulfides, utilizing vitrified clay pipes
that can survive the corrosive effects of acids, using thick jual buis beton that
can tolerate the loss of some amount of concrete from corrosion, aerating the
wastewater to prevent the generation of sulfide, increasing the neutralizing
capacity of jual buis beton by increasing the quantity of cement or by adding a
neutralizing agent.
Sometimes in industrial estates, the effluent collection and
transfer infrastructure is put in place before a proper effluent treatment
plant can be designed. In such cases, you will have to evaluate the potential
of the established effluent transfer infrastructure through testing to make
certain it will be suitable for use along with the effluent treatment plant.
