Problems Every Girl Faces While Wearing Fashion Designer Sarees

Sarees galore everywhere! From bollywood movies to red carpets to high fashion runways, many an Indian beauty like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have mesmerized us with the way they can effortless carry off a saree. And how many times have we fooled ourselves into thinking that we, too, can handle a saree. But the reality is quite different. Each saree-wearing occasion fills us with fear and dread.

 

And we are not just talking about the sheer terror of having a wardrobe malfunction. Here we delve deeper into the world of fashion designer sarees and expose the pain we girls have to go through to look good at weddings, diwali parties and college farewells. If you are one of us, then you definitely will be nodding along to our list.

 

The struggle is real, my girlfriends, the struggle is real.

 

1.      Walking the tightrope in a saree

a.      Moving around in a saree is no less hard or scary than walking the tightrope, especially if you are wearing those ridiculously sky high heels. You spend all evening trying to not trip over the border of your saree. By the end of night, you get so good at trying not to fall that you might as well become a ballerina. Oh, the struggles!

2.     The horror of unravelling of your saree

a.      The single most scary part of wearing a designer sarees is having it come loose in public and falling off. It’s our worst nightmare come to life. Best option is to not move around and keep your bum glued to your chair. Forget about letting your hair down on the dance floor while the DJ plays your favourite songs. But if you just can’t keep your toes from tapping, don’t forget to practically staple the saree to your body with safety bins.

3.     Safety pins WILL save your life

a.      See the above point. You’ll start appreciating the importance of safety pins in your life. Keeping you safe from falling sarees is the reasons these essential Indian fashion contraptions are named “Safety” pins.

4.     When sarees become a straightjacket

a.      So, you’re like us and gripped with utter terror of a falling saree. So you did what any sane person will do and tied your fashion designer sarees such that it becomes fall-proof. But sadly you went a little overboard and now,  you are practically suffocating yourself in your saree. It’s during these times, that nothing, I mean nothing, feels as good as taking off the saree at the end of the night.

5.      With a great “Pallu” comes a great “responsibility” - The challenge is to sexily drape your fashion designers saree pallu, a la the aforementioned Bollywood beauties, while not tripping over the edge of the pallu or having it accidently get caught in something and come off.
