Primary causes for IDP not starting automatically on your computer
- The Windows firewall or other security software on your computer restricts IDP functions, leading to issues during the backup.
- IDP doesn’t have the proper permissions to access the system drives, leading to problems when it fails to store the backup.
- Your system doesn’t have adequate space to store the new backup files.
Measures to take if Intuit Data Protect has stopped working on your computer
Solution 1- Add new ports in the Windows Firewall settings to prevent IDP from getting blocked
- Open the control panel and go to the Windows Defender Firewall window using the search panel.
- Click the Advanced Settings option in the left section and click the inbound Rules option.
- Tap the New Rule option you see on the top-right and enter the firewall ports accurately as described below-
- Incoming Port: 80
- Outgoing Port: 443, 16841
- You can use the instructions given on the screen to add the firewall ports.
- Select Outbound Rules instead of Inbound Rules in Step 2 and apply these steps again.
- Save the settings and try creating the backup again after closing the control panel window.
If the backup fails after configuring the firewall settings, move to the next solution.
