Sony has not had a very good relationship with the technology of backward compatibility in the past. PS2 let owners play all PS1 games without any lag or issue and created immense trust in the future of the product. Following suit, makers ensured to equip PS3 with backward compatibility also, but an issue with the cell processor ended up being its doom.

With PS5 officially equipped with backward compatibility, the gamers feel relieved and excited at the same time because they get to play with the backlog library on PS4 intact.
