How to Fix McAfee Website Download and Installation Issues?

Error 1: Error message when you open the homepage of McAfee

This might happen when you open the home page and the browser uses obsolete files and cache memory. Remove the temporary files and cookies to encounter this issue.

1. When the browser is Chrome

  • Launch the Chrome browser.
  • On the top right of the page, you will find three vertical dots. This is the menu icon. 
  • Click on it to see the further options.
  • Find the ”More tools” option from there and then select ”Clear browsing data.”
  • Now select the following options from the ‘‘Clear browsing data” field – Browsing history, Download history, Cookies, Cached images, and files.
  • Tap on the ”Clear browsing data.”
  • Then, close the Chrome and open it again.

2. When the browser is Internet Explorer

  • Open the Internet Explorer browser.
  • Then click on the ”Tools” option.
  • Now go to ”Internet options.”
  • There you have to select the ”Browsing history.” Then follow the given steps.
  • Select the ”Delete” option.
  • Now deselect the ”Preserve Favorites website data.”
  • Then select the following:
  • Cookies and website data
  • Temporary files
  • History
  • Then, click the ”Delete” option.
  • Finally, close the Internet Explorer and then open it again.

3. For other browsers

  • Again, repeat the process through the options ”Settings”, ”Tools” and ”More.”
  • Remove the cookies and temporary files from there.
  • Finally, close the browser and open it again.

Now you can try to re-access the home page. If these errors occur again, contact technical support.

Error 2: If a non-McAfee website or blank page opens up

Robust malware can block your access to the McAfee home page. It will prevent you from installing or downloading the software. The malware will either open a different browser or a blank page. This indicates that your device is infected.

One of the tools to deal with this trouble is McAfee ”GetSusp” tool. It keeps a check on your PC for suspicious files and malware.

Note: Download the ”GetSusp” on a different device if you can’t access the McAfee website.

The given steps will help you with the McAfee ”GetSusp” tool:

  • Find the ”GetSusp” from the product page of McAfee.
  • Download it by tapping the option ”Download GetSusp.”
  • Now read the software license and click on the ”Download Now” option. 
  • Since you downloaded the ”GetSusp” on a different device, follow the given steps:
  • First of all, copy the ”GetSusp.exe” file from the system to a USB drive.
  • Then, insert the USB into the device where you can’t access the McAfee home page.
  • Now, tap twice on the ”GetSusp.exe” file.
  • Click the ”Yes” option at Windows security.
  • Tap the ”Scan Now” option further. 
  • A License Agreement page will open.
  • Accept the agreement and tap the ”OK” option.

The above steps will let ”GetSusp” scan any malicious file restricting your access to McAfee. If you are still not able to resolve the issue, contact technical support.

Error 3: If an error displaying the message ”There are no programs to install from McAfee account.”

You might enter the McAfee with the wrong account. If such a thing happens, this message will come up. Follow the steps below to encounter this error:

  • Start the process by signing out of McAfee.
  • Then, use the correct email address to Sign in.
  • You can identify the correct email address by checking your mail account, where you will find messages from McAfee.
  • Further, log in to the McAfee account using the correct email address.
  • Now you can try the installation again.
  • If the error persists, call technical support.

For added support, you can use the Pre-Install Tool of McAfee

Go through the steps to download and run the Pre-Install too:

  • When you download the Pre-Install tool, please save it to any temporary location on your device.
  • Now tap twice on the file ”Pre-Install_Tool.exe” and follow the steps given there.
  • A warning message will appear.
  • Tap the ”OK” option to comply with the changes.
  • Once the Pre-Install tool completes its work, click the ”OK” and then ”Close” option.
  • Start your device again.
