While being locked out of home can be a stressful situation, we are constantly faced with bizarre and funny situations that bring laughter and joy into our work.
Here are some of the funniest customer moments:
The FBI are after me!
We once had a customer call us for our services on several occasions to change their locks, as they were convinced that the FBI were breaking into his home and moving his furniture around. We eventually installed a 001 touch deadlatch and explained to him that locksmiths can’t even open it without damage.
Playing Tug of War
We responded to a late-night lockout call and decided to use our under-door tool (which slides under the door to pull down the lever from the other side) to gain entry. To our surprise, our customers dog latched onto the tool and managed to pull it out of my hands! Because the dog won our game of tug of war, we had to pick the door open instead.
Husband and Wife Lock Wars
After visiting the same household multiple times to change the locks, we noticed each time we visited it was either the husband or wife requesting the change. Turned out that they were in a ‘lock war’ and kept changing the locks on each other!
We can’t reach our relative!
This situation was not funny at first as we were called to an elderly resident’s home as his relatives were concerned about him not answering his calls and the doorbell. To our surprise, it turned out that he did not have his hearing aid in, and once opening the door, the funny old fella laughed and called us all silly.
The Sleepy Boyfriend
A young lady once called us as she was locked out of her house, as we were in the middle of picking the door open, her boyfriend opened the door and told us he was sleeping and couldn’t here us.
