Optimize your 2020 with the perfect New Year resolutions.

by Samiksha Sharma Marketing Professional

As this year ends, the next one begins and with it we wrap up an yearlong of happiness, blessings, opportunities and a bundle of memories. As we do that we come across some moments we do not want in our year log. Some failures, some mishaps and some bitter moments that we experienced this year isn’t something we look forward to carrying to the next year. So what do we do? Do we leave them here and never speak of them? We wish we could but sadly we cannot. We cannot undo what has happened nor can we abandon our memories, but what we can do is, learn a lesson from every error we have made, every detail left behind and every opportunity missed. We carry these lessons to the next year so that we don’t have to experience the same moments again. These lessons are that we analyze, inspect and learn from to make what we call New Year’s resolution.

New Year’s resolution can also be something that makes you better than what you were in your previous year and it isn’t limited to the corrections of previous year’s issues, but also could be things that you believe makes you a better person. It could be anything from joining the gym, to quitting a bad habit. It could be something that is completely non-material and completely moral or psychological, like being more empathetic, more practical or looking at things from multiple points of views.

When you’re thinking of getting a New Year’s resolution, you are making a positive change in your life, something that will surely benefit you in the long run and when you’ll look back an year later, seeing all the progress you’ve made, you’d thank yourself a lot. Be it a skill that you try to pick up this year or better a skill you already have, the progress you’ll make in one year is tremendous and is one that you’ve been wishing for since a long time but could never gather that motivation. So this is the time, this is your call to making that one decision that you’ll adhere to in the upcoming year as a promise to yourself to make yourself better.

You could make a resolution alone or get a common one with your friend, your parents, your partner or anyone striving for the same goal. This will give you an added motivation and studies have shown that resolutions taken in groups have a better fulfillment ratio than solo resolutions. A group resolution with someone close to you will also help you with improving on the bond you people share and will also add to the time you spend with each other.

When making New Year’s resolution, you’ve got to remember that making one resolution and following it the entire year through is far better than making multiple ones and abandoning then somewhere between the years. A New Year’s resolution is a promise made to self and one must never abandon promises. So make just one if you wish but remember to follow it till the last second of the year.
