Let's face it. Some crops, like some social people, are just simply high maintenance. Others need simply a little help getting established and then do quite well on their own. Timber generally require less maintenance, with exceptions such as roses and camellias that may desire a little extra spraying and/or pruning.
Decrease growing and dwarf types require less pruning and aren't more likely to have to be attacked frequently to keep them in bounds.
