Ninja Might Move to YouTube After Mixer’s Closure

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is anticipated to make a switch to YouTube now that Microsoft has announced that it plans to close the streaming site “Mixer” soon. Ninja has recently moved to Mixer after abandoning “Twitch” last year due to contract-related conflict between the streamer and the Amazon’s streaming site. Ninja’s leap away from Twitch was seen as the primary wave of what would be a migration away from dominating streaming services. Following Ninja’s suit, several well-known streamers like Cory “Gothalion” Michael, Soleil “Ewok” Wheeler, and Micheal “Shroud” Grzesiek moved away and joined YouTube as well. Ninja was faced with a bit of backlash from followers and fellow streamers alike when shifted away from a better-known streaming site to Microsoft’s less popular streaming site but reportedly brought in as much as $30 million worth business to Mixer.

Despite the abandonment by major streamers in bulk numbers, problems with abuse at the company and a conflicted community due to uneven rule enforcement, Twitch managed to hit viewership records in the first part of 2020 itself. Now that Mixer will be gone for good, Ninja may embark his journey on yet another platform. A twitter citizen named HYPEX found a video on Ninja’s YouTube account, and it was simply titled “test”. Ninja was quick to make the video private but not smart enough to elude screenshots making rounds all over the internet. The streamer himself is very tight-lipped at the moment, but this test run is fuel for intense speculation amongst people. Ninja’s wife and manager Jessica Blevins had tweeted “this week will be fun” last week which many assumed to be a hint to a major announcement.

Facebook Gaming had also offered a spot for Ninja’s streams. He declined the offer which left the list of sites he may consider short. While Ninja and his popularity will remain intact even after the shift he has been making for the past couple of years, others are not as lucky. Smaller and less popular streamers who do not garner the immense fan following Ninja enjoys are struggling to get their audience to follow them on other streaming services. Their struggles had begun from the moment Ninja had joined Mixer because the site’s entire spotlight had shifted away from them. Even though Ninja has made no official announcements, his move to YouTube will make a lot of sense at this point in time because he is left with a small number of worthy streaming sites to choose from.
