Divorce or separation is like a difficult pill to swallow. When you get married you never think to break up the relationship in this way. It is a very difficult phase for anyone to move on their life after divorce especially when you bound with your old memories. This is one of the reasons why moving on after divorce become complex for most of the people.

Don’t skip your grieving phase

Mostly people think that the world is over after divorce. Obviously, it makes you feel sad, scared, hurt and angry when you spend such a long time with an important person of your life and now he/she is not with you. Instead of holding your old memories take your time and accept the truth.

Know that there is a life beyond your marriage

You must understand that divorce is not an end of your life, there is a life beyond your marriage. May be you feel it’s impossible but give time to yourself and thing about it. Don’t treat yourself as a looser, you are strong enough and don’t need someone to prove your identity. There is nothing which you can’t do. If you have children then you have to make yourself strong for them. Otherwise, it will leave a negative impact on your children and they will think that you are responsible for the divorce. Instead of this, you should talk to your children and tell them the real reason behind it. This is very important that your children should believe and trust you that you are always with them.

Accept the truth that it happened

There are many cases where marriages don’t work but it doesn’t mean that you don’t have right to live your life and pretend that everything is fine. Accept the reality that it happened and you are not the only one who suffered from such situation. Be strong you can do everything you wish to do and give a new direction to your life. Don’t forget you have many more commitments and responsibilities in your life and you have to bring a positive outlook to bring better future for your family (if you have children) and you.

Don’t cut yourself from the world

If you really want to moving on after divorce then don’t make yourself isolated from the world. In the beginning, it might possible that you want to stay alone but you have to come out from your situation. Take the support system from your family or friends who will understand you. Instead of staying away from everyone, you should get back to your work and talk to your friends and dear ones. The company of good people and honest speaking is better than an idle mind.


Last but not the least, take care of yourself. Don’t punish yourself by doing negative things like starving, not taking enough sleep, drink & smoke excessively, etc. which ruin your life. Instead of it, indulge yourself in your favorite things like reading books, swimming, hiking, yoga, meditation, etc.
