The western India state of Goa is well known the world over for its coastlines along the Arabian Sea. Goa has a long history as it was colonized by the Portuguese prior to 1961.  The preserved 17th-century churches and the tropical spice plantations in the state provide ample evidence about the same. Goa’s beaches range from the popular Baga and Palolem to Agonda in laid-back fishing villages. The proof of its popularity lies in the fact that it is by far the most searched destinations in India. The kaleidoscopic blend of Portuguese and Indian cultures, sweetened with sea, sand, sun, seafood, and spirituality, Goa is truly India's pocket-sized paradise. The former summer capital of British India, Shimla is located in the foothills of Himalaya. It is the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh in North India. Shimla continues to retain its colonial heritage and you can see grand old buildings and iron lamp posts, among others. The narrow-gauge railway Kalka-Shimla built in 1903 still runs services. Shimla is also well known for its handicraft shops in the pedestrian avenue The Mall and the Lakkar Bazaar that specializes in wooden crafts and toys. The Mall, the town’s main attraction, is packed with eateries and several other shops.
