Smart Tips for Tension Free Solo Travelling

by Natasha Manual Digital Marketing Specialist

Once in a lifetime, I bet, solo trip is inevitable. You might relocate to a new city, or you might lack a good companion, or your company might send you to cover an international event, a solo travel can always surprise us. However, we feel less inclined to travel alone when we think about leaving the comfort zone without any assurance of your friends and family. But believe me, here onwards nothing is going to stop you from exploring this world. We are giving you some of the handy tips that ensure a good solo trip experience.

Safety

Safety is perhaps the major concern for solo travellers while booking economy class flight tickets abroad. Since you don’t have a companion to back you, the chances of vulnerabilities is high. But we misinterpret that group travels are safer than solo. But that's groundless. A solo traveller can easily blend into a comparatively bigger group at occasions to avoid any kind of vulnerabilities. Always avail economy flight bookings and remember to carry less valuable items with you to keep bandits less interested in targeting you.

Stay

Seek the help of Google and find out the exact location and the possible distance to the hotel from airport. This way you can estimate a sample fare way before travel. Even then, do not forget to ask the taxi driver about the fare before you step foot on the vehicle. If the price is different from what you think, then avoid the service and look for another. While traveling don't expect everything to happen on time. Sometimes it can be delayed. So make sure your hotel is 24x7 open and have an open desk to take care of your late arrival.

Explore

You are roaming around an unknown land and the best counsellor you have is yourself. You need to trust yourself. If something is not seeming right to you, then leave it behind or say a clear ‘NO’ to it. Always be in open area or crowded places, especially in twilight and night to avoid bandits to spot you. If you wish to enjoy a peaceful ambience, you can enjoy in early morning or day time. Dress up like you are one of the local guys. If you know a bit of the regional dialect, then it would extra benefit in your journey.

Planning

Always have a proper plan for making your solo solourn a heart melting experience. If a place is known for sunrise, be there in the morning itself. If the plan you make is taking you on the evening, then there is no use. Carry maps and guidebooks before leaving your hotel. Be smart while you ask for direction. Intentionally try to hint that you are not alone. For example, “Which way is to Baylane Park? My friend is waiting there.” You don’t necessarily need a friend to wait there, but at times you just need to lie a bit.

Connected

Be connected with your family. Share the plan with your family and give them the copies of necessary documents. Keep in touch with them at regular intervals so that they can know the progress of your journey. After all, your family can be at ease knowing that you are safe during the journey. Take pictures and share it with your close friends so that they can know where are you at a particular point of time.Don’t forget to share the details of the travel agency. This can be very useful in finding or reaching you in case of emergencies.
