Mid-range Huawei Ascend G6 reviewed
Although I would class the new Huawei Ascend G6 as mid-range there are some surprises install that actually outshine the flagship smartphones of other manufacturers.
Huawei is one of the lesser known brands in markets like the UK but those in-the-know often purchase handsets from Huawei to benefit from certain cutting edge and market leading features.
Without any more fuss let us take a look at what the Ascend G6 offers and why it is a little unique.
Huawei Ascend G6 features
- Selfies - The Ascend G6 is possibly one of the very best handsets in the world for capturing a stunning selfie. The 5-megapixel forward facing camera (yes this is the secondary camera!) with beauty mode will ensure you look your best before you share your boastful/envious moment.
- Camera - The main camera is described as ‘best in class’ and is rated at 8-megapixels. The features you would expect to see on a modern smartphone in 2014 are all present including face detection, panoramic mode and low-light shot aided by a built in flash. Photo editing and video capture are also possible.
- Performance - The 4.5-inch screen (540 x 960 pixels) sits mid way between mini and standard sized smartphones so it will appeal to all. A 1.2Ghz quad-core processor delivers that performance coupled with fast downloads and DTS surround sound.
- Power - The 2000 mAh battery isn't the largest we have ever seen but this will perform extremely well even when heavily using social networking sites, making calls and surfing the internet.
- Connectivity - This Huawei smartphone will connect for data services using 4G and although network dependent it performs using category 4 that can deliver download speeds of up to 150 Mbps. If no 4G coverage is present then browsing using 3G or Wi-Fi is possible. This cell phone also uses wireless Bluetooth for connecting to headsets and GPS for location based services.
- Design - The overall look of this phone is simply superb and for me the uncluttered, clean lines and accents used stand up to the design traits of any other manufacturers flagship devices. The colour choices include white and black.
- Apps - Running on Google’s Android v4.3 operating system new apps can be downloaded from the Play Store.
- Memory - The internal memory is 4GB and a MicroSD card slot is present for expanding the memory up to 32GB.
