Milestones
Mercedes Benz India recorded the highest sales in the luxury passenger
car segment in 2019 and emerged as the country’s best and most-selling luxury
car brand for the 5th consecutive year. Outrunning its closest
rivals the global luxury brand sold 13,786 units in India last year alone.
The brand achieved a considerable number of sales during the ceremonious festive season, which was the highest ever in the quarter (3871 units). This could perhaps be contributed to the launch of three new models during the period – the Mercedes Benz G 350d, V-Class Elite, and the GLC facelift, which could have been a catalyst for the uplifted sales.
The Crowd Favourites
The C-Class sedan and the CLA remain on top of the list when it comes to
customer preference. Both the models offer cutting-edge technology, elegant
designs, and extravagant interiors to sway popular opinion in their favour. The
Mercedes Benz price strategy has also been highly effective with
entry-level sedans, attracting a variety of customers and standing out in the
segment.
During the year, the E-class sedan was the brand’s top seller, with the
highest number of units being sold. The car also witnessed exceptional demand
for the new Long-Wheelbase variant. The E-class sedan came out as the single
highest selling model for the brand in the January to December 2019 period.
The SUV segment comprising the GLA, GLC, GLE and the GLS maintained
their momentum as the strongest selling segment, with the GLC remaining the
most popular SUV. The New GLC led the SUV portfolio for Mercedes-Benz.
The increasing sales numbers strengthen the link between Mercedes Benz
and Indian customers, showcasing their trust on the brand and its products. Mercedes
Benz prices in the country are also a reflection of the customer-centric
approach of the company, and their offering the best in performance, luxury,
and safety at highly competitive prices as compared to the competition.
Mercedes Benz has ensured that its entire range of cars and SUVs has
made been BS6-compliant and the new C-class and E-class models have also joined
the ‘Connected Car’ family with Mercedes me, making Mercedes Benz India as the
only luxury brand having all the cars in its portfolio available with
connected-car technology.
Through the ‘My Mercedes, My Service’ feature, the brand aims at
enhancing the customer’s overall ownership experience. Mercedes Benz has also
introduced the ‘Mercedes me connect’ and an E-Commerce platform earlier this
year for the best customer experience in India.
