McAfee total Protection Security 2019 review: Secure and Authentic

by John Woods IT Expert

McAfee Total Protection blocked all the virus and malware samples we used to test antivirus program/software, which included rootkits, malicious websites, viruses, Trojans, and phishing organizations. It gives you in-browser intelligence about the virus or threats it blocks, which we found more suitable than trying to find this information from the dashboard. These reports include the type of virus or threat blocked and the risk of continuing to the site or downloading the infected content. It also lists the IP addresses connected with the virus or threat, which allows tech-savvy individuals to avoid websites connected to those addresses.

When threats or viruses tried to download our PC, McAfee intermittent and tagged them. Even when we tried to restart the download, McAfee stopped the download again and the warning message of error displays on the screen. When we persisted, McAfee quickly caught the virus or threats as downloads completed and move them to the isolation folder.

Overall this anti malware software or program wasn’t difficult to set up. Links and tabs are clearly labelled, and are the most important features, like automatic updates and real-time scanning, are active once the software or program is installed. We did find it hard to locate the isolation folder but finally found it after clicking on the Settings icon. Also, while McAfee automatically updates itself and if you have to restart your device for updates to go into effect.

We had slowdown error or issues while McAfee scanned our devices for viruses or threats. Several times while trying to use the pointer to attach files to email, Go to the programs or navigate the software, there was significant lag, and we often made sinful clicks because the PC hadn’t caught up with the cursor. While playing games online there was a clear lag that created a lot of interruption and in some games directly affected the outcome as we couldn’t keep controlling the cursor. For this reason, we feel it’s better to let McAfee scan your device when you don’t need to use it.

The malware protection program or software has the extra security types to keep your whole device protected. It is one of the few software or programs that have a personal firewall that monitors your connection and alerts you if anyone is trying to piggyback on your connection. The anti phishing and spam filters tools kick in as you receive an email to ensure there isn’t anything unsafe in the messages or in files attached to them. McAfee Total Protection comprises parental controls that let you restrict kids from visiting shady set time and websites that control and restrict internet access during certain times, like bedtime and school hours.

McAfee is exactly designed to scan your social media pages to ensure files and links posted on your profiles don’t lead to a virus download or dangerous site. Social media sites have become a big target for virus or malware creators since most everyone has social media accounts and uses them often.
