MARTIAL ARTS -SCHOOL OF JIU JITSU CELEBRATING FATHERS DAY
June 13th 2015 was special day for our Students, both at Sampa BJJ Glendora and Sampa BJJ Walnut, the day being celebrated world over as Father’s Day, we decided to add a new flavor to the occasion and worked out a plan to engage the kids at both the locations, with their fathers. We thought there was no better way to celebrate the bonding of fathers and children on this happy occasion, than to put both of them on the BJJ mat. This worked both ways for us as the fathers got a window to realize the variety of techniques learnt by the kids while the kids got a wonderful opportunity to display their skills and moves.
We knew we had our hands full on this special day when at Sampa Martial arts Glendora, within no time there were 30 pairs of kids and fathers grappling on the mat and showing off skills to each other. At our newly opened Sampa Walnut center, there were 7 pairs of fathers and kid students of ours rolling on the mat. Fathers could be seen appreciating the effort the kids had been putting in over the past weeks while trying to learn the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, since there is no greater satisfaction for a doting father to see his cute little bundle of joy sweating it out and making difficult moves on the mat, trying to outwit him.
There are many advantages of parents/Fathers and kids training for BJJ together so let’s try to explore a few:
We decided to honor the father’s day for putting in such a brilliant effort and spending time with the kids and a camouflage belt seemed a suitable reward for the occasion. For those fathers who had the privilege of attending similar events, we presented them with a stripe. The beaming and proud faces of the fathers and our students were enough proof of the success of this unique event that combined fun and learning for all the participants at our Sampa BJJ Glendora and Sampa BJJ Walnut centers.
We solicit enquiries from interested parents and children for detailed Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training programs at 626-335-4971 Glendora and 626-238-3309 Walnut.

There are many advantages of parents/Fathers and kids training for BJJ together so let’s try to explore a few:
- Common topic of discussion: When parents and their kids train together for BJJ, it is a wonderful topic for discussion at home, especially during family time when a common topic bonds the family together unlike the electronic glue called television. Moves are discussed and performances are analyzed at the dinner table or in the drawing room thus creating a great atmosphere bond within the family.
- Strengthening of relationships: When a parent-child combination works together towards a common goal of achieving mastery at BJJ, the relationship becomes stronger and healthier. Kids learn to share issues and problems other than at the BJJ center and this give an opportunity for the parents to move closer to the child, especially during his/her growing years.
- Both have an in-house critic: When the parent and the kids are learning the same art and working out together, it gives the child the leeway to get useful pointers from the parent and vice-versa. Hence there is greater understanding for the parents about the effort the kids are putting in, however difficult the techniques might seem.
