Maharashtra Govt Curtails Price Of Petrol, Diesel; Get Details Here

meeting conducted on Thursday, July 14, Chief Minister Eknath
Shinde announced a cut in VAT on petrol and diesel in the state,
reports stated.
According to accounts, he
proclaimed a reduction of INR 5 per litre on petrol and INR 3 per litre on
diesel. The reduction in price is slated to be implemented on Thursday, July
14, at night.
Further, after the cabinet
meeting at the Mantralaya, Shinde apprised the media that the decision would
comprise a burden of INR 6,000 crore on the state exchequer.
On the other hand, Deputy
CM Devendra Fadnavis articulated that the decision was
part of the newly appointed government's commitment to the welfare of the
people.
Earlier this month, in the
two-day special Maharashtra legislative assembly session, the new state government had
declared that it would soon take a decision to reduce VAT on diesel and petrol.
This recent move comes in line with the same.
In addition to the
above-mentioned decision taken in the cabinet meeting, other resolutions passed
reportedly include:
- Direct election of Mayors of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats. Election of Sarpanches also directly from the people
- Swachh Maharashtra Abhiyan 2.0 will be implemented in the state
- Direct voting rights to all farmers in the market committee
- All those who went to jail during the 1975 Emergency to be given a pension by the Maharashtra government
- All clearances given for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train in Maharashtra
