Dynamic Trials of Metro 2A and 7 Approved; Will Begin by the End of May
The long-awaited trial runs on the 20-kilometre stretch between Charkop to Aarey as part of Metro 2A (Dahisar to DN Nagar) and Metro 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East) has now received the nod from the Chief Electrical Inspector.

All nine stations on the Metro 2A
and Metro 7 lines will be covered under the proposed trial run from the end of
May.
The first ‘Made in India’ coach for
Mumbai Metro was unveiled earlier this year by CM Uddhav Thackeray at the
Charkop depot.

“Nancy Colony sub-station that
will provide traction power to the system has been charged on 110KV supply
provided by Tata Power. Besides, OHE catenary wires of Line 7, where Phase I of
the trials will be carried out between Ovaripada and Aarey, have also been
charged on 25KV power after electrical safety certification by electrical
inspector to Government of India. Line is now ready to carry out the dynamic
trial of prototype train set,” an MMRDA spokesperson said.
The prototype train set is
reportedly ready at the Charkop Depot for the dynamic trials. The MMRDA has
said that the dynamic testing and trial runs will go on for a period of two
months.
A team from BEML (formerly Bharat
Earth Movers Limited) will be present during the trial runs as the firm has
supplied the coaches for Metro 2 and 7 lines.
