KOSUN developed the drilling waste management equipment to meet the policy in 2015
In the past decades, various kinds of measures were taken to reduce the influence of drilling waste to the environment in oil and gas industry. Drilling staff would take three stages of methods for drilling waste disposal: in the first stage, drilling process adjustment or proper drilling fluid is applied for drilling waste management; by doing so, the drilling cost is reduced and it is better for the environment. In the second stage, drilling waste will be recycled for second time usage; and in the third stage, drilling waste that cannot be recycled shall be disposed properly.
During the traditional drilling process, waste pit is built at the drilling site for drilling waste management. That is, drilling waste management system is discharged to the waste pit at ground level for next-stage treatment, or even directly buried. This traditional discharge mode causes serious pollution and great harm to the environment and human life; therefore, State Environmental Protection Administration of China made a formal legislation in January 2015 to put forward stricter requirements and standards for drilling waste management.
KOSUN drilling waste management services are based on our drilling waste management hierarchy which governs the way we deal with solids control and waste disposal in all our drilling activities worldwide. The four levels of this basic hierarchy is reduction at source, recycling, treatment and disposal, in that order. To ensure that these steps are well implemented, precise planning for both environmental protection as well as cost-effectiveness is pivotal. This involves studies to review both the project and the disposal criteria which need to be customised for specific requirements.
