There are wide varieties of subsidiary medical equipment which are required at different stages of pre and post operation. Splint materials are hard wraps that are used to support and protect broken or injured bones, ligaments, tendons and other human tissues. Types of Splint and Its Usages

Orthodontic Retainers

After the braces are removed from the teeth during the process of shaping, the orthodontic retainers are used. The retainers are fitted at the end of the orthodontic treatments. These are both available in fixed and removable format and are attached to the teeth. Again there are different types of retainers. The choice of retainer selection is again dependent on a number of factors which can be best described, told by orthodontists.

The time period one needs to wear the Orthodontic Retainers after the removal of braces varies from case to case. In some instances it is four to six months while in other instances it is around 12 months or more. Whether the attachment is fixed or removable is yet another criterion. Also whether one needs to wear them all the time or specific time of the day that is also prescribed by the dental team.

Tips to follow

The patient needs to wear the Orthodontic Retainers for a couple of months after the treatment is over so as to prevent any lapse of treatment. The major function is to provide
