In order to decorate the areas outside your home it is necessary to use attractive furniture and upholstery materials. While selecting the outdoor upholsteries it is important to choose the right fabric and types. Unlike the indoor upholstery the outdoor coverings confronts the harsh climatic condition and so if they cannot resist the bad weather conditions they will get damaged quickly. Different types of foams are used to manufacture these cushions and other upholstery materials.

The different types of outdoor cushion foams are stated below:

1.       Compressed polyester: Compressed polyester is not like traditional foam and can be used as an alternative version. It gets compressed when used for a longer period of time. These are non-allergenic and are resistant to mildew. These are washable and they get dried easily after getting wet. This alternate foam variety costs relatively low and is the best option to use in patio cushions for alternate sitting option.

2.       Polyester fiberfill: It is also not a real foam variety like the polyester fiberfill. This stuffing material is commonly used to fill cushions and pillows. It is an affordable option to use for. The fiberfill wrap provides a round and softer look to the cushion and without it a cushion will appear flat and angular. It is also resistant to mildew and non-allergenic. A pre-sewn cover of spun bonded pillow protector fabric is stuffed with polyester fiberfill. In order to provide extra shape and support this is inserted inside the pillow or cushion. You can easily wash them in machine and dry them naturally.

3.       Polyurethane foam: These are suitable to use for mattress and seating application. They have medium firmness and are a more traditional option for various applications. The cells of a well polyurethane gets soaked up in water and often mildew and molds grow on them when dried out. In order to prevent the growth of these organisms, applying a biocide treatment is important. So it is better to apply them in such places where they won’t get wet. Reflex is a type of polyurethane which is mainly used in marine application.

4.       Open cell foam: This variety has got open pores which allow the water and air to flow with much ease. High quality open cell types dries much faster compared to the other varieties. Applying this variety makes the cushions and mattresses more comfortable. The dry fast foams are provided with an anti microbial agent that prevents the growth of molds and mildew.

5.       Closed cell: The closed cell foams are finer in quality than polyurethane type. They do not allow the water to pass through and are a more expensive option. These are best to apply in the floating cockpits and are a great choice for commercial boat seating and other vessels.

You can get these varieties in the companies which manufacture foams for outdoor upholstery in Sydney.
