Keeping The Weight Off This Holiday Season

by MR.SIVA GOUNDER Consultant

Everyone is guilty of overindulging over the holiday season and often it can be challenging to stick to your natural nutrition and fitness routine. However, the last thing you want to do over the Christmas and New Year period is put back on the weight you worked so hard to lose. So how can you keep the weight off this holiday season? Below are five silly season tips to keep the weight off and stay in shape.

1.    Start your day with exercise

It may be the holiday season, and yes you may be busy, but this is no reason not to let yourself go and not keep up with your usual exercise routine. However, if you cannot make it to your typical group fitness class or you do not have the time to jump on the treadmill, even just 15 minutes of exercise can help you to maintain your fitness level. If you can find the time grab a skipping rope for 15 minutes, anything is better than nothing, and by doing a simple 15 minutes of exercise a day, you will keep on top of your fitness.

2.    Kick the cravings

The best way to kick your cravings over the holiday season is not to get stressed over the fantastic spread of food that is in front of you. Don't feel that because you are trying to eat healthily or cut back on sweets that you will have to miss out on the food you love entirely. Take deep breaths, grab a plate and try not to overindulge, think about what you want to fill your plate.

3.    Cut back on diet soda

Cutting back on the diet sodas is going to be the best trick you have up your sleeve this holiday season. Bubbly beverages can lead to bloating and gas. Stick to water, in the long run, and this will be the better option for you and your body.

4.    Build up your willpower!

It is essential that you learn to have willpower when it comes to food. You are going to find yourself in plenty of situations where you are going to see yourself in front of the food that you know you cannot eat. The best way to fight cravings is by having willpower and not caving into your cravings, over time you will find that your cravings will disappear.

5.    Eat what you love, in moderation

The most important thing to remember over the holiday season is to eat what you love but eat in moderation. Don't give up the food you love and don't restrict yourself, be happy and enjoy the holiday season surrounded by friends and family.
