I met Jenny Packham a rainy morning in early summer atelier in Milan Antonella Del Brusco, between the beautiful wedding dresses of the British designer who began his career in fashion in 1988 with the first collection of pret-a-porter: in walkway, his creations very feminine, with a certain elegance gentle and graceful enough to evoke already bridal dress. But, even before this step, his models capture the attention and desires of the international celeb who wish to wear the official ceremonies on the red carpet.

Around 2000 Jenny Packham also won the white carpet with a bridal collection that introduces a new concept of wedding dress: fluid and décor. In 2008, the line of accessories for the bride characterized by crowns, barrettes, headbands and jewelry studded with crystals fairytale effect. Today Jenny Packham is one of the most successful bridal designers in the world, torn between his passion for the ready-to-wear and the bride, who are not two worlds so different, as he tells us in this interview.

What was the inspiration for the 2016 collection presented in New York?

The world of fairy tales. And in particular the work of Shakespeare A Midsummer Night's Dream: I wanted to reproduce the scene on the catwalk. An enchanted forest adorned with roses where models paraded with extreme grace and lightness.

What are the changes introduced in the new collection?

There are many, but certainly one of the most obvious is the introduction of new fabrics. Here there was a lot of experimentation to get new shades, prints and shimmering effects on materials. We also used many Swarovski crystals and then the aftermath of this year are much longer than the past.

The difference between ready-to-portere wedding dresses?

I think it's different inspirations. The wedding dress follows the canons a bit 'more traditional than those in the ready-to-porteranche if in the last ten years, this difference is failing. Today the wedding dress, compared to some time ago, reflects much more the trends of contemporary fashion. The idea of ​​bride story in my collections is decidedly feminine, elegant, sophisticated and sensual, never excessive.

Why did you decide to also make wedding dresses?

It 'was a natural step. When I was in college I worked occasionally at a shop of wedding dresses(bridesmaids dresses online) and maybe all born there. However, many of my models work perfectly in version bride. The idea came after the wedding clothes to my friends. I love to make something that can give pleasure to people. And the wedding dress has precisely this power, although it is not very easy to make someone really happy. But I am committed a lot to get this result because, on that day, brides want to be perfect ... By the way, at the beginning of my career in the bride did not understand why so many girls wore clothes so heavy, to "carry" here and there, throughout the day. And that's why I thought of wedding dresses from light and impalpable fabrics.

As you imagine your wedding dress?

I find it hard to identify a model for me. I might not guess yet. I found my prince for twenty-seven

years, but not yet my clothes.

A memory, or more than one, linked to the world of celeb?

I really enjoyed with Dita Von Teese when I dressed for one of his shows. It had to be a dress very easy to take off ... And therefore I had to create several layers and invent different ways to put fingers at ease. I also remember the meeting with Kate Winslet on the occasion of his participation in an award for the film Titanic. The event was on Friday and, in three days, I did an exclusive dress. Working with actors is very quick and easy because they have the experience to advise the right sleeve or neckline more photogenic. Then why, all, they tell me to do very tight clothes ... And I like to make others happy.
