Hiding your Profile on Facebook? fine.  Hiding your profile on a business network? What are you The unknown networker?

You join a business network and one of the first things you should do is set up your profile.  This is the first impression that members of that network get of you.  If you are there to network and build business relationships, the last thing you want to do is hide your profile from the very people you want to meet.

That profile is there for a reason it serves a purpose.  It is your introduction to other members.   Would you go to a social event and zip up your lips and stand there like coat rack expecting people to be so excited to see you that they will fall all over themselves to meet you?  Of course not you would introduce yourself, tell people a bit about yourself and make conversation.

Look at the news feed see that entry that says "Viewed a profile"?  Someone has taken the time to click on a member's profile to find out something about them.   Does your profile introduce you our do you have it blocked?  If it's blocked odds are they are not going to click the request to conect link because you have not given them a reason to do so.

I understand that on social networks this is a concern and I fully encourage it for that, but on a business network like APSense blocked profiles have no place.  I mean you are here to network and build a contact list right?  Then act like that's what you are here for and stop blocking your profile, you are only hurting yourself and your business opportunities.
