The new push of content marketing revolves primarily around SEO or search engine optimization. All companies in Utah and around the world are vying for the first page of Google in order to get more website traffic. The experts in SEO marketing are usually not found inside a normal company but are found in the many marketing agencies popular around Utah.
Search engine optimization can be very time consuming and without the desired results, it can also be very discouraging. The best way to gauge whether your efforts are helping move the company in the right direction is to analyze three particular facts. These statistics are: the number of leads to the website, revenue and of course your revenue per lead. The easiest way to calculate the revenue per lead is to divide the total revenue by the total amount of leads. This will give you a ratio that is easy to understand.
The way that analytics are set up can greatly influence the effectiveness of your analysis. There are many ways to set up analytics but usually the simplest way (and also free route) is to use Google Analytics. There are other sites as well that will offer additional insight that may not be available in Google Analytics. If conversions are properly tagged and mapped then you will be able to see where most traffic comes from. It can be through organic search or through a link that was posted somewhere else.
When working with SEO it is important to remember that results are not seen overnight. Usually one year is a good time period to wait and see if the work is paying off. If it is not paying off then reevaluating strategy and analytics can be crucial in putting efforts and money where they are most effective.
There are may other things that can help determine the success of a digital marketing strategy. One of these things is social media. There should be a comparison done of how effective social media was being in the past to how it is now. Is there more engagement? Are there more shares, likes and comments? If there are, then social media efforts should be continued. Social media is one of the fastest ways to build trust and confidence with those already interested and also with new customers.
In the end, each company from Utah to the East Coast will have to decide for itself where to focus on SEO. The best results are seen when progress is analyzed and repeated.
