Is good memory a miracle or application of proper memorizing strategies
I believe you can find the
answer in the title of the article. Good memory is not a miracle, but knowledge
of how to use your mind to remember what you want to remember. Most of us were
taught to remember things by means of repetition. This methods works, but it is
probably one of the worst ways of training your memory, because only one facet
of our mind is used and that is remembering by hearing things. For those whose
main way of remembering is audio way it is a good strategy, but it is really
not good for the rest of us.
There are quite a lot of
people who have proved that it is possible to remember thousands of names,
addresses, streets, telephone numbers, items on your shopping lists in a very
short period of time. Those people used mnemonic techniques and changed
understanding of humanity about memory training. I hope you have heard about
world memory champion Dominic O’Brien who can remember around fifty decks of
cards. And he says that he does not have some exceptional photographic memory
but achieved these tremendous results by practicing mnemonic techniques on a
daily basis.
When I tried those I saw
that I can remember a lot of items on my shopping list too and memorize other things
much better than I used to. The best way to start improving your memory is to
use your imagination which will tremendously help you to attain and keep good
memory. Instead of simply repeating items on your list for yourself audibly you
can start placing those objects in your mind (having defined a route which you
want to go) in an order you would feel comfortable with and use your sense of humor
in order for those images to sink better into your long term memory.
You can imagine thirty places
that could start with your house and lead to the nearest shop. Have a special
object at each stop (stone, pillar, statue, old car, container and etc.) and
try to employ some famous people or funny character like Shrek or Panda and try
to connect those characters with the items that you have to remember.
I know that it might seem difficult in the beginning, but if you are really interested in the subject I would recommend visiting my blog: memory improvement tips and reading material there that will help you to understand better what I mean by this article. I would recommend reading about Roman room method and also memory quotes and sayings. Hope to see you on the blog.

Yes, it can be. Mnemonics can certainly help you to learn Turkish or any other language.

Can this method be used for learning a foreign language? I started learning Turkish. it has no resemblance with other languages I know with the exception of modern words and some borrowed words from other language in Turkish.
