Is Ayurveda really helpful in Arthritis?
Ayurveda is an ancient form of medicine that was established in India. It uses exercises, nutrients, and meditation together to promote good health. Many Ayurveda doctors said in their Ayurveda Event in Canada that taking Ayurvedic diets and lifestyle practices, taking herbs and supplements and practicing yoga will be beneficial for the health.
Which Food to eat?
The recommended diet for those who are suffering from Arthritis is similar to those of the Ayurvedic condition Amavata. Amavata is a disease that is related to joint pain and it has the same symptoms as Arthritis.
Examples of food to eat for arthritis problem include:
- Grains

- Wild animal meat

In breakfast, you can take tea, fruits and hot porridge or oatmeal with cinnamon and during lunch, roasted vegetables such as sweet potato, pumpkin, squash or Yam and sprouted rice or buckwheat. In dinner, try to avoid a heavy diet instead take Thai green Curry with brown rice or spaghetti squash with tomato sauce. Drink warm almond milk mixed with honey before going to bed. Overall Diet tips
Generally, fruits and vegetables should be cooked or stewed before eating them. Look for light fruits and vegetables such as cooked apples, sweet potatoes, and cooked raisins. Avoid eating hard digestive food such as raw apples, broccoli, and brussels sprouts. It has been said that spices are an important part of an Ayurveda diet but it doesn’t mean that your dishes should be fiery hot.
You must avoid spices like cayenne pepper and chili powder and replace them with warming spices such as turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.
Exercises
Many Ayurveda exercises are recommended by Ayurveda doctors in their Ayurveda Event in Canada such as Yoga, swimming, walking, etc. deep breathing and meditation should also be done. Yoga for arthritis has improved physical pain, energy, overall health, and mental health.
Sleep
The Ayurveda lifestyle can help you with sleep if the joint pain and stiffness are keeping you awake. Here are some of the recommended changes which should be done in your daily lifestyle:
- Going to bed on time and waking up early in the morning.
- Avoid sleeping during the day.
- Take a bath with warm water before bed.
- Drink warm milk before bed.
- Eat light dinner 2-3 hours before sleep and a walk is a must.
- Practice Night time yoga and meditations.
- Massaging the soles of the feet with sesame oil and wiping it off after 15 minutes.
