Industrial Fabrication Services: Availability and field characteristics

by Avadhesh Sharma SEO Analyst
The process of creating an entire metal machine or any metal structure from scratch that is from raw materials or semi finished materials, is referred as fabrication. This includes all the small processes required to build a machine such as cutting, wielding, burning, forming, assembling the parts together to create the required machinery. A fabrication shop provides the facility of getting many processes, that are required for machine building, at one place. The customer can work with a single contractor rather than multiple vendors for very process of machine making.

The type of metal equipment or structure that has to be created can of course widely vary, it can be anything that the customer wants. A fabrication contractor for a company or a shop may land with a project that could differ from small jobs like creating hand railings to projects likes creating huge heavy duty machinery.

How the fabrication sector is doing:

Metal fabrication is a rapidly growing industry. Metal fabrication business is flourishing and strong as ever. Since the industry is highly cyclical and depends on industries such as auto, aerospace, construction and energy, this sector is experiencing a intense boom.

With the increase in population the demands for the products of this industry continues to increase. The demands for machinery in various fields like agriculture and other commercial industries, increases with time. There are plenty of new job opportunities in the structural steel fabrication industry in countries like Saudi Arabia, India, China etc.

Various processes done in the industry:

- Cutting and burning: the raw materials is cut by using different tools, mainly by shearing using special band saws. Computer operated burn tables are used that have plasma and laser cutter feature.

- Bending: bending is done by hammering sheets of metals, which could be both manual or machine powered.

- Forming: the process includes the conversion of flat metal sheets into 3-dimensional structures that is it’s desired shape. Forming can be controlled by tools like punches and dies.

- Machining: any bolts or nuts required are machined from blocks of metal into the desired shape.

- Welding: all the parts created till now are joined together in their place and wielded together. This is an important step which requires a great caution since extreme heat might lead to wrapping of weldments if not careful.

- Assembling: Thus is the final step, where after the welding has all cooled down the machinery or structure is checked once again and then sandblasted. After any additional manufacturing, the product is painted or polished.

The types of jobs available in the sector:

The industry has the requirement of many different workers to perform the various kinds of jobs. The employers are looking for workers with metalworking specialties including welders, ironworkers, blacksmiths, millwrights, boilermakers and many other workers that could work with the raw materials and complete the process of creating the final product. High paying industrial fabrication services are available in places like Dammam, Saudi Arabia etc.
